It is widely believed that zoos protect wild animals from cruelty and are a good place to visit because it is where endangered species are also conserved. However, the reality is far different. Over 10,000 zoos have been established worldwide. Out of this, less than 500 zoos register their animals on an international species database.
The zoo owners often look for more profits neglecting the health of animals…….they are deprived of proper food, shelter and protection from changing weather conditions…..
Many a time the animals are kept in rusty cages with no greenery near them…….
There are people throwing debris, garbage and stones at animals….clearly an act of cruelty……
Final Legal Take Away Tip: If you find any negligence of the part of zoo officials, you can write a letter to a local newspaper or handout leaflets in front of the zoo. You can also contact PETA to get a copy of their zoo checklist.
